As requested, I'm posting my song suggestion here. This for New Moon when Edward leaves. The first one is "Gone" by Matthew Nathanson and I think it really speaks from Edward's position. How badly he wants things to work out, but how they can't. How when he leaves it will be as if he had never existed ("let it wash away all the best I had....and when I disappear, don't expect me back"). It's full of sadness and longing, even in the guitar.
Quote :
Love, I'm aching to believe Give me something real enough Give me somewhere to fall from
'cause in the dark I can't find my feet Built my world on promises Colorless and cold
I'm short of breath, I'm sure Gone, let it wash away the best I had Gone, and when I disappear Don't expect me back, don't expect me back
Lost, sweetest things get lost In the static far away Painted pictures of you I fold Don't want to be holy then Don't want to be sold again The way I was with you
I'm short of breath, I'm sure Gone let it wash away the best I had Gone and when I disappear Don't expect me back, don't expect me back
I'm short of breath, I'm sure Gone, let it wash away The best I had Gone, and when I disappear Don't expect me back Don't expect me back
At its worse the heart is sober At its worse the heart is cold, cold, cold
I'm short of breath, I'm sure Gone, let it wash away all the best I had Gone, and when I disappear Don't expect me, don't expect me back
Gone, let it wash away The best I had Gone, and when I disappear Don't expect me back Don't expect me back Don't expect me back
My next suggestion is actually a piece, not a song. Even without lyrics, I feel like it really evokes that moment of heart break Bella experiences while Edward walks away and she lays on the forest floor. And afterward...I can really imagine this playing in her head for all those blank months. "Elevator Beat" by Nancy Wilson
It's the kind of music that is very sad, but also reflective. Like you're stuck in that moment of pain, and you keep digging at the wound by looking back on all these memories, which just makes it worse.
